The Ultimate Surf Trip

Traveling to far away surfing destinations was always on a surfers mind, sometimes just a few days or if you were cashed up a month away was not uncommon! A few mates to share the petrol and driving and off you go, it maybe North if it’s winter or South in summer but the swell and weather forecast gave the answer!

After driving all night we would turn off the highway towards the coast, wherever you ended up so you could have a surf check and sometimes you got a bonus surf on the way. On one trip we got to Bulladella  heading to Angourie turned off the highway to Seal Rocks only to find the point going off with nobody in the water so we ended up staying the night sitting around a fire and heating up our cans of food which ended up being a surprise package as one of our mates had torn all the labels off, so you didn’t know if you were heating up peaches or beans, hahaha then surfing all the next day in some truly amazing waves.

Then off to Angourie for a more challenging break, which turned it on for three days of perfection! What a trip! These were the kind of trips that are embedded in the older surfers minds,

These stories may not seem important or you think no one knows who you are or you are a no one? From personal experience the memories we have are enjoyed by a multitude of people from all over the world, so although it may seem to us it’s just how we grew up it’s an important part of history to be preserved. So if you have any stories no matter how obscure just jot them down in anemail and I will do the rest. Submissions to rob@museumofsurf will be greatly appreciated.
