Vic Tantau was one of the early pioneers of surfing in Victoria. Along with his mate Peter Troy, they came up with the idea to start a surfing competition at a remote break along the Victorian coast
That beach was Bells Beach. It is now the longest running and most highly regarded surfing competitions in the world. It’s seems the same throughout history. Just a couple of guys with the initiative to have a go. The result. History.
These images are supplied with much love from Vic’s daughter Leonie Vrymont Tantau.
Many Thanks Leonie
